Para Jumble Rules:

Para jumbles are questions where disordered sentences must be arranged to form a coherent paragraph.

Typically you will get 5–8 sentence fragments labelled as 1,2,3,4,... or A,B,C,D,... which need to be ordered.

A simple logical approach — especially forming pairs (couples) of sentences that must stay together — is often enough to solve these questions efficiently.

Para Jumbles – Rules

Making pairs (couples) is a useful strategy for para-jumble questions. Couples are sentence pairs that logically belong together and should not be separated. Below are six common hint types that help identify correct pairs or order:

  • Noun–Pronoun hint: A noun usually appears before a pronoun that refers to it. If a sentence contains a pronoun, find the sentence that introduces the corresponding noun (match number/gender/number).
  • Cause–Effect hint: Look for cause/result connectors — words such as because, since, therefore, as a result, thus, hence, whenever — to pair cause and effect sentences.
  • Full form – Abbreviation hint: If one sentence contains a full form and another contains the abbreviation or acronym, the full form usually comes first followed by the short form.
  • Chronology hint: Time indicators (years, dates, before, after, later, then) indicate temporal order; arrange events chronologically.
  • General to specific hint: General or topic-introducing sentences typically come before sentences that give specifics or examples.
  • Question–Answer hint: If a sentence asks a question (explicitly or implicitly), the following sentence that supplies an answer or explanation should come next.
